Head of ICMA Centre wins award
Dr Carol Padgett has won the 2019 University Teaching Fellowship scheme. Hosted by the Centre for Quality Support and Development, the award recognises staff who demonstrate individual excellence in teaching and support of student learning.

The University Teaching Fellowship (UTF) scheme is a prestigious and extremely competitive award. A small number of staff win the award each year and they are granted the accolade of University Teaching Fellow.
The UTF Selection Panel were impressed by Carol's approach in using technology to complement traditional teaching methods. They also recognised her highly reflective approach to developing excellence in T&L and her evident commitment to developing colleagues in Henley Business School and across the university.
“I am delighted to have been given this award and look forward to joining the UTF Community of Practice. I am sure I will get many new ideas from my fellow UTFs - be assured that I will share them with Henley colleagues so that we can further our commitment to offering our students an enriching experience.”Dr Carol Padgett

The financial crisis - why students should still choose finance
For those people considering going to university this year at MSc level, this financial crisis will be the first they have experienced. Yet financial crises happen every ten or twenty years. What is different this time is the severity of the crisis ? the likes of which no trader in the City has ever seen before. This article first outlines the causes of the crisis and then asks whether students should steer clear of finance, accounting and economics as subject disciplines and potential careers, until the crisis has receded? I argue that the clear answer is ?no".
