Suited and Booted
ICMA Centre students got suited and booted for the annual class photographs last week. Amid all the exam stress, the photographs mark the beginning of a season of celebratory events at the Centre.
By the end of the month students will be nearing the end of their exams and they can relax and enjoy the annual ICMA Centre BBQ. Then we have the Centre's 20th Anniversary Drinks Reception to look forward to in June and graduation in July.

This is the first BSc cohort who will graduate with the newly titled BSc Finance and Investment Banking.

We recruited a record number of students this year across eight Masters in Finance programmes.

Reflections on switching as a regulatory intervention

In certain sectors - notably banking, energy and telecoms - customers are exhorted almost continuously to consider ‘switching’ supplier. Organisational structures have been developed to facilitate switching and the strategy of switching tends to be strongly supported by the regulator in those industries. For example, over 40 UK banks and building societies now participate in the ‘Current Account Switch Service’ run by the payment service, Bacs. In the energy sector, there is an ‘EnergySwitch guarantee’ and the regulator (Ofgem) provides advice on how to switch to a new supplier, as does Ofcom for the telecoms sector.
The ICMA Centre welcomes new academics

The ICMA Centre is delighted to welcome four new leading academics to our teaching staff for the new academic year, starting in October 2013. Prof. Michael Clements will join as a Professor of Econometrics and Dr Andreas G.F. Hoepner will join as an Associate Professor of Finance. Dr Yeqin Zeng and Rohit Sonika have also been appointed Lecturers in Finance.
