He obtained his engineering degree (MSc.) in Physical Engineering from Delft University of Technology, and his doctorate in Applied Nuclear Physics at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Before his current position at Vrije Universiteit he was consultant on business strategies and organizational design. Herbert's research interests include credit risk, corporate finance, financial performance measures and anomalies in financial markets.
