Conference Overview
Organised in collaboration with the Met Office, this conference will examine how climate change is reshaping the boundary of insurability. Changing hazard patterns, growing concentrations of exposure, and rising repair and reinsurance costs are placing pressure on households, businesses, public authorities, insurers and reinsurers.
The conference will explore traditional indemnity insurance alongside parametric and hybrid structures, including their potential to provide faster and more predictable liquidity, complement existing cover, and help address protection gaps. It will also consider challenges including basis risk, data quality, model uncertainty, pricing, consumer protection and fairness.
The programme will feature a keynote from Professor Enrico Biffis, alongside two panels examining climate insurance design and the future of flood and wildfire risk in the UK and Europe.
Key themes include:
- Indemnity, parametric and hybrid insurance
- Climate science and hazard information
- Insurability, affordability and protection gaps
- Catastrophe modelling, reinsurance and market resilience
- Actuarial, financial and economic evaluation
- International experience and transferable lessons
Join us for a discussion on the future of climate insurance. Hear from leading experts and explore practical approaches to navigating a changing risk landscape.
