CISI presentation

As part of our collaboration with CISI many of our students have sat CISI professional exams in the past and they offer a generous discount to ICMA Centre students for this purpose.

The key advantages of obtaining professional qualification are of course that it can enhance one’s CV considerably (same as for e.g. the CFA and ACCA qualifications) and offers opportunities for networking with other members of the Institute in different parts of the world.

One of the key qualifications they offer is the Diploma In Capital Markets http://www.cisi.org/cisiweb2/cisi-website/study-with-us/capital-markets/diploma-in-capital-markets

Although CISI no longer offers exemptions on its qualifications, they will exclusively offer this year one exemption to ICMA Centre students on MSc ISIB, MSc IM, MSc CMRC, MSc CF and MSc FRM. The agreement has now been finalised and signed.

This effectively means that students who take this opportunity will have to sit 2 exams, instead of 3 to obtain the CISI Diploma which I think is a great opportunity.

The exemption offered is their Level 6 module Financial Markets. So one would only have to sit Level 3 Securities (most of the curriculum you probably cover as part of your modules anyway) and then one of 3 elective modules (Bonds, Derivatives or Fund Management). They have been invited to present to those attending the programmes above and it will be a great opportunity to hear about exemptions and other benefits that come with our Centre of Excellence status.
