The Town of Reading

The historic town of Reading is set in the heart of the beautiful Thames Valley countryside.  Superbly located on the Thames and lying in the UK's ‘silicon valley’; Reading's economy offers a wealth of opportunities for students.

Reading itself offers some of the best retail and entertainment experiences. The Oracle Centre features over 80 shops, bars and restaurants, as well as a 10 screen multiplex cinema, and its lively waterside setting is ideal for relaxing and is within walking distance of the Centre and the University.

For those keen on sports Reading is home to the Reading Royals at the Madejski Stadium, and the London Irish Rugby Club.

Reading also enjoys a vibrant music scene with many venues offering live music throughout the week, and of course, there is the world famous Reading Festival each year. 

Reading has its sights firmly set on the international business world, attracting several major computing companies, including Microsoft, Compaq, and The Oracle Corporation.  Reading is also the national headquarters for a range of financial and commercial organisations, such as Prudential, Honda, Thames Water and British Gas.
