Established over 100 years ago,¬†The University of Reading¬†currently ranks as one of the UK’s best research-intensive universities and is one of the top 200 universities in the world (QS). The academia enjoys an excellent reputation for teaching as well as research and enterprise and it was awarded the¬†Queen’s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education¬†in 1998, 2005 and again in 2009.
The University is situated on 395 acres of grounds in four distinct campuses: Whiteknights, London Road, Bulmershe Court and Greenlands, which is on the bank of the River Thames in Buckinghamshire. The Whiteknights campus is set in 130 acres of spacious parkland. The heart of the university provides a great student community with its open space, lake, rare trees and wildlife, giving students a quintessential English countryside experience despite being near the busy town centre.
At Reading, students can enjoy great sporting facilities, including eight badminton courts, eight squash courts, 12 grass tennis courts, five netball courts and a purpose built fitness studio as well as plenty of room to play football, rugby, cricket, American football and any other sport imaginable.
Reading University Students’ Union¬†(RUSU) is seen as one of the best bars and nightclubs in the town, and it is a hive of activity day and night. It provides easy access to services, shopping and a readymade social life. Its state-of-the-art award-winning entertainment venue,¬†3Sixty, is a prime example of the University’s ongoing investment in first-class facilities.
It also boasts four museums, two campus libraries and a range of inter-departmental libraries, and a botanical garden.
The university is well located as well, with superb transport links to the entire south, is approximately only 22 minutes from London Paddington on train and a regular coach journey connects campus with the Capital and Heathrow Airport.
